There are many
characteristics of human behavior in this poem. Human can taste, perish and
destruct.

What theories about the end of the world are alluded in lines 1 and 2?
The theories are that
the world will either end in fire or ice.

How does the speaker’s use of understatement and rhyme affect the tone?
The speaker is just
stating facts. The speaker could have drawn us a picture of the world ending in
fire or ice. The tone of the poem is calm even though people fear death.
